Mary Njoki Waweru is an influential voice with over 3 million impressions in one year on LinkedIn where she has built a strong following of over 21K professionals. Her anti-oppression journey started in her homeland of Kenya with participation in the 2015 Nairobi protests against gender and child-based violence. This inspired Joyce Wanjala lay, then Taita Taveta County Women Representative, to invite her and other organisers to a meeting at Parliament. Later in 2019, she met with Kenya’s High Commissioner to the UK, H.E. Manoah Esipisu and provided strategic advice on service design through a gender advocacy lens, focusing on the challenges Kenyan women face when acquiring official Kenyan documentation.

Mary had a successful stint at VML (formerly Wunderman Thompson) as the Global Project Manager - Content Maintenance for Nokia (dot) com and the Nokia Foundation websites. She contributed to research and communications as a cultural strategist on social impact projects for clients like Bayer and spearheaded other digital and content marketing projects for clients like Volvo, Dell Technologies, Nokian Tyres and KONE.
